MIRL Series Rules & Regulations Enacted 11/19/2006

1. Eligibility: New members may join the MIRL Series. You must fill out an application for the series if you want to participate in the races. http://rfactor.racepointsmanager.com/pm/Register.php?league=3 If you do sign on to this series you are expected to know and abide by the rules of the series you are running in. During the race you are not expected to complain about the rules, if you didn't think the rules were something you could 'live with' you should not have wasted ours or your time signing up for this series in the first place.

2. Points System: The MIRL Series will use Indy Racing League series for points.

3. The Penalties Points System: We will not publicly post these penalties since both drivers will be notified, and will need to send in replays. The reason for this is that our intention is to run a smooth and good running series. We are not out to embarrass someone. There is no need to put this information in public.

4. Teams: MIRL Season 6 will not keep team standings. In the future the MIRL series may have team competition which may consist of no more than 3 drivers per team. If we don’t have more then 4 four teams, then we will stay an Independent series for this season.

5. Car Number Selection: The MIRL series drivers may use any number from 00 to 999. Before applying for a number, check the MIRL Drivers List for number already taken.

6. Attendance: If you can't make a race, you may ask for Last Place Points (LPPs). At any time BEFORE the start of a race, you may request last place points. To do so, simply request last place points in the LPP thread at the MIRL Forum. Details as to how the LPPs system works can be obtained from the various Forums or from the series Admin. You must ask BEFORE a race for one simple reason. If you don't care enough to ask, then it can't be that important to you. There is no automatic 100 points given for missing a race. Unexcused Absence = No notification at all to the MNRL Administration.

7. Settings and Setups: Setups will be fixed and published in the Schedule page for MIRL. Other pertinent information will be in the MIRL Drivers Guide thread on the MNRL Forum. The server will be locked with a password that each driver will receive in an email prior to the race. It is the responsibility of each driver to remember the password.

8. Cautions Caused and Accidents Under Yellow: As the MIRL series races both road courses and ovals, full course yellow flags are used on oval courses only. Local yellows are used on road courses. Passing is not permitted in a local yellow area, and doing so exposes the driver to a penalty from the game (see rule 14a).

8a. After Race Celebrations and Wrecking: We ask every driver to please take a 'cool down lap' after the race. Due to the way the scoring is done by the game at times when the winner crosses the line the race doe not end until the last car involved in the race crosses the start/finish line. Every driver involved should take this 'cool down lap' and the drivers involved in the race should go to the pits and if the winner of the race wishes to act like he or she has not 'been there before' may do so. But be aware that if drivers do not heed this warning and something does go wrong the games Official Standings WILL NOT be changed so act foolish at your own risk.

9. Protests and Penalties: A member may protest an accident or the behavior of another member at the conclusion of the race. They may send in a protest up to 48 hours after the race is completed. The protesting member must submit a clipped replay of the incident to the MIRL Administration. Upon receipt of the protest, the MIRL Administrators will review the incident and levy any penalties deemed necessary. Members may file unlimited protests per season. Penalties will result in sanctions and/or point deductions, depending on the severity and nature of the infraction. If a member accrues multiple penalties, he/she may be subjected to suspension. A replay must accompany the protest or the protest will not be reviewed by the administration. In special circumstances, where the member cannot retrieve the replay, the member then must supply enough information for the administration to review. When a protest is received from a driver we will petition the other driver involved to send in his or her replay as well. The reason we will do this is simple. Most of the incidents can be determined who's at fault pretty easily, but in the case where it is a close call, being able to see the exactly what each driver is doing with the gas and the brakes could help us determine the outcome. So if you’re not already doing it, start saving your replays! It could possibly save you some points in the end.

10. Chatting for Team Speak and In Game: All drivers are strongly encouraged to use TeamSpeak!! The rules governing chat will depend on what session the race is in. Practice Session: Chat as much as you want. Qualifying Session: Absolutely no chatting allowed. Any congratulatory remarks (such as GL, NL, congrats, etc.) should be made AFTER the Team Meeting. Team Meeting: No Chat until asked but the Admin for questions. STAY OFF THE TRACK. Warm-Up Session: Chat as much as you want. Any congratulatory remarks (such as GL, NL, congrats, etc.) should be made can be made now. Race Session: No more auto chats... EXCEPT for possibly pit in and pit out. If the track we are at that week has a dangerous pit out, or pit in, we may ask that you signal that. But, it is very likely that the pit in and out on the same track will not be dangerous, so you should only have people signaling one or the other, and only when someone is right on their bumper! SO in other words, the most auto chats we should ever see in a race total should be maybe 15 or so "entering pits" or "exiting pits". The Admin will go over it with you guys in the drivers meeting emails, as well as on race night if you are to signal one or the other. Keep in mind; this is only if someone is directly behind you. Other than that, you should assume to not use auto chats of any kind from here on out. That being said, we strongly encourage all of you to use Team Speak. We have much the same rules on there during a race as the chat window. No talk unless really needed.

11. Lucky Dog: Lucky Dog will be used on Oval courses.

12. Racing back to the Start/Finish Line: No racing back to the line on full course yellows. The game will fix the standings at the time of the caution, and direct every driver where to fall in line..

13. Starts: Road course starts are standing starts. Watch the lights and be ready! Be patient and let the game synchronize! Sometimes the game can take up to 10-15 seconds to do this and you may not see any cars right away. Don't panic! Remain in your car. If you esc out you will have quit the race and cannot re-join.

13a THERE WILL NEVER BE RESTARTS ….. DON'T ASK

14. Lapped Traffic: Because the MIRL series races are fairly long, many members may be lapped by leaders. There are no full course yellow flags; therefore, there is no reason to contest being lapped. Drivers about to go a lap down, or are already one or more laps down should not block or race the cars attempting to lap them. It is up to the passing car to make a clean safe pass. If a lapped car does block a lead lap car, then the lapped car may be penalized. WHILE THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR A SAFE PASS RESTS WITH THE OVERTAKING CAR, let people lapping you pass by holding your line and speed. If the passing car is inside you, slowly lift off the gas and allow them to complete the pass. Do not contest the pass going into the corner. Or you can move to the low side after exiting a corner. However, do make sure that you do this smoothly. DO NOT SLOW DRASTICALLY! DO NOT CHANGE LINES ABRUPTLY. Some of the tracks are very difficult to pass on unless there is cooperation between the drivers. 14a: Blocking and Lapping defined:

NOTE ON PASSING: The "local yellow" flag, when displayed in the upper left corner of your screen, means that some situation immediately ahead dictates a NO PASSING condition. Do NOT PASS when the local yellow flag is displayed, you may incur a penalty! Do not pass until after the "local" yellow flag removes itself from your upper left screen. a) BLOCKING: When battling for position, a passing opportunity will almost always evolve. The driver in the front is allowed to alter his/her line once. If the drivers are side by side, a line change is not advisable. b) LAPPING: A driver being lapped should get off the racing line at the earliest safe place, and allow the lapping driver to pass without incurring any major time-delay. Slowing the faster car down in a lapping situation is highly frowned upon, and slowing the faster car for longer than necessary may result in a post race penalty. However, if you are faster than the car a lap ahead of you, and can maintain a safe margin, you are welcome to stay ahead. c) GETTING LAPPED: Do not slow down on the racing line, especially in an accelerating zone such as the exit to a turn. Do move off-line, on a straight, or at the exit of a turn. Absolutely do not slow down at the entrance to a turn. d) FASTER CARS: The faster car is expected to wait until the lapped car clearly moves off-line. Impatience will result in pointless shunts. Faster cars that bull their way through slower ones are subject to a post race penalty.

15. Flaming: Flaming is absolutely not tolerated. A member who is flaming will first receive a Black Flag. If the Flaming persists, then the Admin will eject the member. Flaming is defined as any racial slur, insult, abuse, swearing at or harassment of another driver or Admin. This also applies to “WTF”, “WTH”, and even “TY” when used in a negative way. This includes Team Speak and in game chat.

16. Intentional or Malicious Incidents: Incidents that are deemed intentional or malicious will be subject penalty and can result in immediate removal from the league.

17. Warping: We all understand that warping is a part of online racing and that a driver, who is warping badly, really can't do anything to prevent the warp from happening. However, The MNRL is tasked with providing the entire league with a relatively hazard free racing environment. Therefore, the following procedures will be followed when dealing with warp issues. During the Practice Session: If other members and/or the race Admin notice a car or truck that is warping excessively, that member may be asked to skip the qualifying round and start in the back of the field, in order to ensure a clean start. During the Race Session: During racing, the member of the warping car may be asked to reduce speed and proceed as safely as possible to the apron of the track, maintaining a safe speed along the apron until that car regains a stable connection. In extreme circumstances, the member of the warping car may be asked to park his/her car and sit out the rest of the race. This would only be done if the problem persists and after all other options are exhausted. 17.a Warp ‘Lag’ caused by drivers leaving the server: We all have bad nights, get angry, and decide to quit the race and leave the server while the race is still running. However, this causes problems with rFactor that did not exist with NR2003. When some people or a group of people leave, it can cause lag for the rest of the group. This can cause their screen to freeze, and cause accidents. If you’re in this series we can only assume you have blocked out this amount of time to be there, so be there, and don’t leave! There will be occasions where your computer or internet fails. Administration will take those instances into account. But if you signed up for this series, and plan to race it and be there, then from here on out you will need to be there at the end once you join. It is out of respect to the others, and to not cause lag or others problems because you had a bad race.

18. Burnouts: While waiting for the start of the race, members are NOT allowed to burn their tires. This creates a smoke screen that impairs the vision of cars behind you, causing the potential for accidents before the race even starts. Any member who does a burnout before the race will receive a Black Flag from the Admin. If an accident occurs due to the burnout, the member will still receive a Black Flag when the race restarts.

19. Passing not using Track Surface: Passing by leaving the track surface is forbidden and may incite a black flag or disqualification. Passes are not to be made by moving into the berm, dirt, or other surface not easily recognized as belonging to the obvious track racing configuration. During racing a driver may occasionally accidentally leave the track surface proper due to overdriving, etc. Such maneuvers are not infractions as long as they do not result in the driver's gaining position or ground on any other driver. No "shortcuts" permitted.

20. Server Handles: In order to avoid confusion, MNRL requires that all drivers login in to races with a handle that represents their real name.

21. In Conclusion: We are all here to have a good time. In order to get respect you must also give respect. Please keep in mind that the ages of our drivers range from 13 years old to …….well really old male and female so please act accordingly, if you would not want your child to read something on screen or be treated in a bad matter please keep it in mind before you act in a matter unfit and just treat everyone as you yourself would like to be treated.

Thank You,
The Administration
