MIRL Season 12 Drivers Guide

Postby Sam A. on September 13th, 2009, 9:32 am

The theme for Season 12 is a tribute to the Indianapolis 500 with a focus on Chassis and Engine manufacturers who have participated in the race. Look for features on these in the Race Announcements.

Read the MIRL Rules

MOD
CARTFactor: http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cf ... T%20Factor

We will use the Target Chip Ganassi cars as our base car for the season.

Sign up in the rFactor RPM system here if you did not run in Season 11 or if you are not currently registered in the rFactor RPM system for another MNRL series:
http://racepointsmanager.com/pm3/?leagu ... o=register

All RC races will have standing starts with a formation lap. Oval races will have rolling starts. I will try to have practice open by 7:05 pm eastern. Qualifying starts at 8:35 eastern. Qualifying will be 10 minutes, 12 lap limit, open 'Euro' style qualifying for RC races. Oval races will have private qual with 4 laps (1 out lap, 4 laps on track, 1 in lap). All road course races will have 1x tire wear and 2x fuel consumption multiplication. All ovals will be 1x fuel and 1x tire wear. Driver's meeting will follow qualifying, then a 10 minute warmup. All road races will have a mandatory pit stop.

Oval races will have full course cautions. The field is frozen when the yellow is waved. Lucky Dog is active as is green/white/checker finishes. There is one attempt at a Green/White/Checker finish. If the caution comes out during that, the race finishes under yellow. Road Course races run with local yellows only.

Setups:
Setups are downloadable from the RPM Schedule page ( http://racepointsmanager.com/pm3/?leagu ... hedule&s=1 ). Do a right click and 'Save As' to download.

You may change the following in the fixed setup (see NOTE):
- Initial Fuel
- Fuel Strategy
- Brake Bias
- Brake Pressure
- Steering Lock
- Rev Limit
- Boost Mapping
- Front Wing
- Engine Braking

NOTE: rFactor resets these values to the base values in the setup with each session change, so the changes will have to be reset each time. At the start of the race session, you have 35 seconds to make any adjustments and get in your car before the green flag. This 35 second value is hard coded in rFactor and cannot be changed. Failure to make your changes in 35 seconds will result in you missing the race start, which means you have to start from the pits. If you do have to start from the pits, make sure you do not leave the pits until the light turns green, or you will be disqualified. BE SMART about the changes you intend to make. Don't overdo it.

Aids:
We allow the following Aids:
Traction Control (level 1 - low)
Antilock Brakes (level 1 - low)
Stability Control (level 1 - low)
Auto Shift (level 3 - high)
Auto Clutch
Spin Recovery
Auto Lift
Auto Blip

Multipliers:
Damage set to 50% for Road Courses and 60% for Ovals
Fuel is 2x and Tires are 1x on Road Courses; Both multipliers are 1x on Ovals

TeamSpeak:
Usage of TeamSpeak is highly encouraged. The league TS server is at
216.246.38.85:8795 and the PW is the same as the race server (which you will get in race announcement emails).

Sorry, this might be a stupid question but...are yellows used on the ovals? All I can find about yellows is from 'Cup Series Rulebook' page which says 'lucky dog is on' and 'no racing back to the line on a yellow'. I assume all that applies but wanted to be sure.
TIA!!

Yes, full course yellows on ovals. Local yellows only on road courses.

We do use Lucky Dog on ovals, and the field is frozen when the yellow is thrown.

Keep the questions coming, it will help me beef up the drivers guide.

Racing Line Developments has released a small patch (1.01) for their CART Factor Prologue mod for rFactor.

The patch includes a whole bunch of small fixes for issues that may have spoiled the CART experience.

What about this Sam...?

CART Factor Prologue was the early beta version of this mod. The patch does not apply to the final version.

The alt wings show up via the Upgrades menu, just like the 1995 mod. The drivers suit and helmet will show up when you are in your car. Be sure all of these files are in the MISC dir under SKINS under the Ganassi team. If you install the generic skinpack you will see how it is structured.

Sam,
How will the points manager know what car # to apply points? If we are all using one of the 2 Reynard Ganassi cars (only two cars). Just curious????

RPM doesn't use the car's number, it uses the driver's name for scoring.

Edit: And I take the win by 1 minute.

RPM does it by player name. The car number is completely meaningless. Neither RPM or rFactor really pays attention to the car number.

Setups are downloadable from the RPM Schedule page (link). Do a right click and 'Save As' to download.

Another noob thing maybe but...I can't for the life of me find any setup links there. I change to season 12 but the only link I can find takes me to a 'track stats' page. Maybe they aren't uploaded yet with the mod change? I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing them...keen to get on track :)

Speaking of...had some fun last night with Norm and Joe and a pub server at Loudon. Thanks again for the setup gents. That track must get pretty tight with a field of cars! Should be good fun.

That's because we don't have any setups yet. When we get them they'll be added to the schedule page.

Yes. Each skin would need to have a helmet file anyway, so if you want two helmets go ahead.

During last night's practice sessions, the option of adjusting the engine braking was available. Will that be available during the season as well because I don't see it in the above list?

The setups are found on the main page www.mnrlonline.com Under the MIRL tab at the top select Schedule, and the setups that are ready should be ready to use. Also on the main page there is the Registration tab, if you don't have a profile (guessing so), select New Driver and follow the instructions.

Link to update RPM information:

http://racepointsmanager.com/pm3/?leagu ... memberedit

Your setups files go into:

rFactor\UserData\Your Name\Settings

Inside the settings folder there will be a list of the tracks you have installed, drop the setup into the track of your choice or into the root settings folder.
